12cm (4,7 inches) tall Kameosa resin sculpture. 3D modelled and printed in resin and hand painted with acrylics. The eye is finished with clear UV resin.

Due to the hand making process, the final product may differ a bit in colors from the one in the pictures. Each creation is unique.

ABOUT KAMEOSA IN JAPANESE FOLKLORE

The Kameosa is a tsukumogami reborn from ancient vessels used to store water or sake. Although they retain their appearance as jars, they develop eyes, a nose, a mouth, and limbs. The most extraordinary thing about the Kameosa is that it never becomes empty. It continues functioning as an ordinary vessel, but its contents are magically replenished. No matter how much liquid is removed from inside it, it always remains full.

Like many tsukumogami, it can be mischievous and wander around the house on its own, but it poses no danger to humans. On the contrary, having a Kameosa in the home is considered a sign of abundance, prosperity, and good fortune.

The Kameosa was created by Toriyama Sekien for Hyakki tsurezure bukuro, his fourth and final encyclopedia of yōkai, published during the Edo period. The creature is part of a collection of tsukumogami inspired by wordplay and cultural references.
